Thanks, once again, for the great details and putting them in a system.
If one is tolerating one’s microcycle, does one keep on rolling further consecutive days of loading? Or would adaptation be served by doing a rest day at least every two microcycles, or some other interval? Thanks for considering.
Subject to 2 back-to-back easy days... if you are tolerating the load then keep stacking the weeks.
Keep an eye on metrics, mood and overall performance.
At some stage, you'll start to see chronic fatigue creep into your training - usually mood, nutrition or heart rate suppression. When you notice that, then 3-7 consecutive easy days are useful.
Also, if training has been going well, then backing off for a low priority race is a good way to shed fatigue.
Finally, if you catch yourself thinking... "I wonder if I need an easy week?" That's usually a sign that it's OK to take a series of easy days. By the time it's obvious we need to back off... we've usually gone too deep with the fatigue.
PS, for a Masters runner who runs 4 and bikes 3 days out of a 7 day microcycle (as you say, not all TSS is alike)
