I Gordo. In the last part of this article you cited "I’ll be sharing an advanced runner’s case study in a future article". Where can I find this case study? Moreover, It's not clear to me the differenze between the progressive test and the full-profile test (using lactate monitoring in both case) and the differences/advantages/disadvantages in adopting time (5 minut) or distance (1600 mt) for the steps lenght. Many thanks.
Maybe not the correct thread but I give it a go here since it covers the last part of the IM who is the run 😉What estimated TSS is generally recommanded for an Ironman split which an athlete typically runs well off the bike?
I've yet to aim for TSS with myself or an athlete. Key things: (a) base the targets on what's been proven in training; (b) don't spike power; and (c) a well paced bike will always feel like it was a bit too easy.
With the spikes, starting point is to avoid going over 70.3 average power. For faster and fitter athletes, the ceiling moves upwards, eventually all the way to FTP.
Then, with the plan tested and assembled.... The game is to try to ride under the plan. Saving watts whenever and wherever possible. There is a lot of free speed available in the amateur race.
This one: Epic Lite @ Alpe d’Huez Triathlon 2024?
I will race some local stuff this year and maybe nathional 70.3. Next year we are considering Boulder. www.fasterinpink.com
That's the one. It will be my main focus for 2024 and should help me get my bike legs back.

Hi Antonello,
Here's part two of the series:
https://feelthebyrn.substack.com/p/using-the-progressive-run-test
Even better is Chapter Two that walks you through everything:
https://feelthebyrn.substack.com/p/better-thinking-about-running
For the differences between the tests, see Chapter Four:
https://feelthebyrn.substack.com/p/better-thinking-about-running
As well as Chapter Five:
https://feelthebyrn.substack.com/p/lactate-testing-essentials
The full profile is a demanding test that can result in extended recovery. I use it cautiously. I talk more in this section on Test Frequency:

I am all good :) are you doing 1-1 coaching again?
Not yet. Want to get the book draft finished then figure out what's next. What's your event plan?
Ramping up my SwimRun to do ÖtillÖ with Colting in September.
2024's focus event will be Epic Camp in July.

How you doing over in Norway?

No rest, you'll get a better look if you do it continuous.
